To the Editor:

I would like to thank the City of Ithaca for looking out for the well being of its citizens and kudos for a job well done. Many of you may never realize it, but the City magically made many of the trip hazards around town disappear last week, which saved the taxpayers thousands of dollars. All of this was accomplished by the hiring of a contractor who leveled the sidewalks by pumping cement under the existing sidewalk so that the walkways would be returned to their original position. I became aware of this because of the sidewalk in front of the Masonic Lodge located on the corner of Ithaca and Newark Streets had settled from the curb and dropped about 3 inches. I was concerned about the safety of our lodge members and not to mention liability issues that may have transpired. The walkway is now ON THE LEVEL and looks fantastic, so in short I just wanted to express my gratitude to all who were involved.

Sincerely,
Scott Johnson
Ithaca
